This is my favorite MP3 player.  Winamp

This is the software that I used to record the MP3's in this section. Note that this software is very reasonable price wise.
You do not need to spend 100's of $ to get good recording software.
The Drum program is Acoustica Beatcraft - Beatcraft
The recording and Mixing program I use is Acoustica Mixcraft
Mixcraft 2, Mixcraft 3, Mixcraft 4 and now Mixcraft 5

Stereo Rack tube pre amp
I built a Stereo tube pre amp originally to go with my Stereo 18 Watt power amp.
It ended up that it worked out really great for a recording pre amp and so this is what I mainly use now for recording.

My Amps and Guitars

I use Guitar Rig to process the guitar sounds.

How to down load the MP3's below
Right click
your mouse on the file links below.
Choose the "Save target as" option.
Save the file somewhere where you can find it on your computer.
The most common place is your desktop.
Play the MP3's in your favorite MP3 player.

Note: If you left click on the MP3 links below, you may find that Apple Quick time opens and tries to play the MP3.
Quick time is very invasive. To avoid this, follow the instructions above
How to play the Songs below without downloading them
I set up a cool little Flash player that can play the files below.
You have to have Flash and Java installed on your computer for the player to work properly.
Just click on the Play buttons below and a new window will open with a small player in the window.
The player may not work if you have a Pop-Up blocker turned on.
You can add this page to your approved Pop-Up blocker settings if you want to have the Pop-Up blocker turned on and still be able to use this page.
Just click on a Play button below to see if the player works before doing anything.
If it works, you are good to go.

Here's a screen shot of what the player looks like and descriptions of the different functions.

The Songs

This is a tune by Dan Morrissey called Queen of Spades
It has an Indian vibe to to it.
According to the original composer, it's more of a music soundtrack type piece.
I have altered the original tune quite a bit in my own warped way.

This is Mix #1
Queen of Spades

I am a beta tester for Acoustica's Mixcraft 5 and so I started messing around with this Van Halen tune from the first album, using the Mixcraft 5 beta to chase down software bugs.
I can't really go any further with the tune until I find someone who can sing the part of David Lee Roth.
It's not even close to something I can sing.
I'll hunt around and see if anyone wants to to sing on this and then I'll post back a version with lyrics.

Van Halen's - Ain't Talkin Bout Love

This is a Laura Branigan tune from the 80's.
Another tune where I was messing around with using Syth's in Mixcraft.
This one features Larry the Belching Arp

Laura Branigan - Self Control

I Have been messing around with all the cool Synth sounds in Mixcraft 4.5
This tune is all synths, no guitars or drums at all.
If you want a mental vision as you listen, picture this.
The tune is about an industrial Factory.
It starts with the whistle blowing, all the machines fire up and start making a bunch of weird noises, as machines do.
I highly recommend listening with headphones and a sub woofer.

TheFactory - 7.4 megs - 03/27/2009

I have had this Fleetwood Mac tune running around my brain for 30 years.
Bob Welch wrote this tune called Hypnotized.
I tried to round up a better vocalist, but I ended up doing the vocals myself.

Hypnotized - 6.6 megs - 03/20/2009

This one was really fun. I started to mess around with programming synths in Mixcraft 4.5, which I had never done before.
I had heard this ABBA tune in a movie and really liked the melody and the synths in the tune.
This is a tune by ABBA called, Lay all your Love on me. (Yes ABBA) -  :)

Lay All Your Love on Me - 6.8 megs - 02/05/2009

I purchased a bunch of real drum samples and then set up a kit in Beatcraft with some of the new samples.
I used the new kit to record Surfing With the Alien, mostly as a test of the new samples.

No big deal, just a ripping fun romp.
Surfing with the Alien - 4.9 megs - 01/15/2009

I met this guy, Jim Hickey, over at www.Mixcraftlive.com who is a guitar and Bass teacher and he sells jam tunes and other items on his web site.
He posted a Jam in Am on MixcraftLive.com that had a cool groove and so I wrote a tune based on his Jam.
Here's Jim's page at Mixcraft live http://mixcraftlive.com/members/74/
And here's his web site. http://www.jimhickeymusic.com/

This tune was just a fun little diddy I did one afternoon during a 3 day rain fest we were having.
I am playing guitar over the top of Jim's drum and Bass Jam track.

Groovin - 6.55 megs - 08/29/2008

Synth Thetic 2 - 6.23 meg - 08/12/2008 - mix #2, the shotgun mix
Written by Doug Hoffman

I re-did the drum track and made a bunch of mixing changes.
I also added a shotgun blast when the drum track starts. :)

This was a fun tune to do.
It has a bunch of Synth sounds formed into rhythmic beats in time with the main dance beat.

The 18 Watt stout is a modified 18 Watt Marshall circuit.
There are 18 Watt Lites and all kinds of variations of the 18 Watt Marshall circuit.
