The metal base on regular 9 pin sockets is too narrow
for most EL84's to fir down into the socket. Here's
how you mount an EL84 in a 9 pin socket.
Take just about any 9 pin socket and remove the metal base that the tube shield mounts to. Get one of the EL84 spring/clamps that has a two hole mounting base. Clamp down your 9 pin socket with the EL84 spring/clamp combo. |

The EL84 spring/clamp holds the socket nicely.
I sell a 9 pin ceramic socket that does not have a tube shield base attached to it on my tube sockets page. I sell the EL84 springs on my Tubes page |
