The big homemade pack on the left is the 12volt NiMh battery pack I use for my Marwi handle bar HID.
The middle pack is a 9.6v NiMh pack for my Luma HID
The green batteries are Sanyo HR-4/3FAU 4000mah and HR-4/3FAUX 4500 mah NiMh batteries
These batteries are in just about every bike light battery pack I have ever taken apart.
Here's the lights. I threw in a Halogen just for comparison.
See the New P7 design further down the page.

MTE Flashlight P7 LED and 6 batteries.
I included 6 batteries in the photo because I do not know how I am going to drive this light yet.
It takes 3 of the green batteries in series to make 3.6volts at 4500 mah.
If you take two of those packs and put them in parallel, you will have 3.6 volts at 9000 mah.
I will probably get some of the 3.7 volt Lithium's at deal extreme which would be small and lighter than 6 of the big green monsters.
Halogen and 5 batteries
This type of halogen typically came with a 5 battery flat pack for your pocket,
or a 5 or 10 battery water bottle pack.
