Jimmy gave a free concert on the beach to help boost the local economy. Lots of people showed up. You do know about the gulf oil crisis, right?

Yeah, know about the oil spill, but don't watch the news.

Anything serious happens, I go and read about it.

I'm not really a Buffet fan, but I do enjoy his music, and it's great for parties. Jimmy is/was a local boy. His sister Lucy owns and operates a locally famous restaurant called Lulu's in Gulf Shores. The concert was ticketed but free. The beach was packed for the first time this season. It was nice to see the beach without thinking of BP or tar balls for a change. Jimmy gave us a needed boost in spirit as well as stimulating the tourist business, even if only for a day.

CMT carried the first 1.5 hours live Sunday evening. Jimmy took a break and then did another 1.5 hour set.

That is cool. notworthy  Man, they need help bad.  I had heard he was a really nice guy, but you can really tell character where the rubber meets the road.  I saw him once in Hawaii on our honeymoon.  Watched the show from our balcony.  The stage was about 100ft. away.  He even waved to all of us knowing we did not pay to attend.  Really great performer.  Never became a parrot head tho....  Someone else on this forum was there on their honeymoon and saw him too - small world!

Yeah, I just wish that he and so many other artists would keep their political opinions to themselves though.  Music is supposed to be an escape and entertaining not another area of indoctrination. cry

Guides on your quest for tone.
Oh yeah, and I'm usually just kidding so don't take me too seriously.

He took a few light-hearted pokes at BP in a few of his songs last Sunday. I thought they were very appropriate. I didn't hear any political views though.
CMT just ran the concert again last night, but it was full of commercials this time.

Hmmm did not know that.  Like I said, I never "became" a parrot head so I don't know much about his political leanings....  You are preaching to the choir brother, the majority of the loudest mouths have never had to REALLY earn a dime.  I'm gonna get in trouble so I'm gonna shut up now!

Well it looks like the latest cap is holding, Great!!! grin

Now for years of cleanup and recovery. I'm sure some things will never be the same as it was before. I'm in North Louisiana but it effects us all in more ways that we can imagine. Plate
