Tele brass saddles

Wanted to comment.
I just put some brass compensating saddles on mine.
It sounds and plays way better to me. A lot warmer I think.
I got the entire "Wilkenson Licensed" bridge for cheap and decided just to use only the saddles because a new fangled shiny bridge would take away from the gritty appearance.

what's that ring around your switch?

 I have to ask, how easy was it to intonate?

on the Custom my son and I built, we found 9's intonated easiest and slightly bent the long bridge saddle screws ( non compensated saddles)

You know those 50 packs of cd/dvds?
It's the little piece of protective foam at the bottom of the ones I buy around here.
I saw it and thought "I wonder if ................"
Snug, perfect and I use light blue picks all the time, nice match.
I have a few of them saved up.Probably get creative when I get time.

Before it was crap and impossible.
Now it's much easier to intonate.
Intonation itself is almost..... perfect.(I can hear ,single octave, one or two cent errors by ear.It's a curse sometimes)
I did find that I couldn't intonate soley by the harmonic on the 12th fret.I had to press the string down to get a good estimate and go from there.....the method I prefer not to do.
I also ended up lowering the bridge PUP because the action was too close to the 1st string, causing havoc.

I am running some really old 10s now.
Hoping for more improvement with new strings.

Nut hanging things up a little sometimes.
Overall this is slowly tuning out to be a rippin' little geetar.

I put the standard old stu mac compensation brass bridge on my Hwy 1 Tele and it intonates almost perfrect. Stays in tune really well. Plate

I like em.  My favorite is the Joe Barden Tele bridge, which has compensated saddles.  There are a couple other little details on that bridge which are just really nice!

I was all set to buy the Wilkinson in-line bevel-compensated saddles for my new partscaster project, but wanted to try JD's suggestions first since the new bridge I bought is a fender non-compensated.  I figured, why not use what you've got, then replace with something else if that doesn't work out? 

Turns out this works very nicely, if you set it up right.  I've always either bent the screw, or bought the angle-tapped kind.
