i got a 5 inch pp heathkit oscope  at the resale shop today 5$ iv been kinda watching it for about a year now i figured if it had one good tube its worth that, so i couldnt help it, i brought it home wired in a grounded plug bang popped the fuse, i changed fuse turned all dials down and she fired up, so its on but i have no cords to hook anything to it and test, does anyone know of a video clip or some reading on oscops like i said its on but im realy not sure how to test it???   mark

Which model ? ? ?

Put that model in Google, see if you can find a manual. If not that exact model, any similar Heath. Their manuals were VERY good newbie intros.

With INTensity full up, and H-pos and V-pos centered, can you get a line across the screen? Can you trim INT and Focus to get a nice sharp line?

Gently shove a resistor in the V input center hole, touch the other end of the resistor. It should be possible, with much diddling, to get a steady wave (room hum).

Somebody needs to start a new company like Heathkit - or even better, revive the brand, but skip the computer stuff (it would be pretty pointless in this day and age, considering how easy they are to build) that ended up leading to their destruction!
