Another one of my hobbies, computer programming

I have been developing a free drum pattern and sequencing program called Drum Stik.
I need some people to test it and see how it works so far.

You can create Drum kits, patterns and sequences and you can save them and share them with others.
We can share and start a library of patterns and sequences.

I included some drum kits, some patterns and a sequence in the download files

I set up a web page with more info and the files van be downloaded here.
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/Music/DrumStik1.htm

03/04/2009 - Version 1.51 has been uploaded to the server.

Note: I noticed that the Intel Speedstep setting on my MOBO bios was messing with the samples playback timing.
I disabled it in the BIOS and the samples were playing back in perfect time.
This only happened on my dual cpu auto overclocked Intel system.
My single cpu systems did not have this problem.
There may be a bios update that fixes this, I didn't check.

I have Vista and it wouldn't run. Came up immediately with an unhandled exception. Hope others have better luck.
* EL34 -  should work now on vista , give it a try, see the web page link in post #1

The program comes up with an error (see pic). Clicking 'continue' resumes the program. I can load the drumkit and sequence and make it play. However, the upper windows does not display the drum pattern.

Which version of .NET is required?
* EL34 - , sorry I should have said. You need .net 3.5

I downloaded .net 3.5. Didn't help. It is erroring on loading the form. The pic is all I get after telling it to ignore errors and continue. I forget the exact wording, but the gist was that it was in an wrong format. I tried setting the program properties to XP sp2 and it didn't help. I must be missing something in my system that it needs. Vista (mojave) Ha! At least XP worked as an OS. I thought .net framework was supposed to eliminate these kind of problems.
* EL34 - That big red X indicates that .net 3.5 is not installed. I got the same thing with .net 3.0

I've just tried this on a 64-bit machine running Windows XP Pro x64.  I have .net framework 2.0 (x64).

I got an unhandled exception error message, with both the original .exe file and the one from the version 1.3 zip file.  (BTW, the "version" information when you look at the properties for the 1.3 one still says it's 1.0.0.0.)

Maybe it's an issue with 64-bit, not Vista?

I'll try it out on my 32-bit XP laptop.
* EL34 - I fixed this error by creating a x86 version that should run on 32 and 64 bit systems

On the laptop, which has .net Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1, I also got an error.

It looks like MS wants me to install the 3.5 update, so I will.
* EL34 - yes you need .net 3.5

OK, that works.

You mentioned a readme file in the top post, but the zip file I downloaded didn't have one.  It's not immediately obvious to me how to create patterns or sequences.
* EL34 - see the web site link in post #1. The web page has instructions and screen shots.

here's a link to the x86 version that has been tested to work on 64 bit vista.
It also works on xp 32 bit so you don't need the original release folder if you use the x86 folder
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/VB/Files/ReadMe.txt/x86.zip

WinRar says that zip file is FUBAR'ed.

The Data one is OK.

I'm intending to try this on a machine running the 64 bit Windows 7 beta, just because I have it running.
* EL34 - I fixed the file link. see the web page link in post #1, it has the most recent files you need.

Hey Drew and others.
I set up a web page with info and instuctions for using Drum Stik
I am going to use this page for the new program downloads, so all the info is in one spot.
