Smokin' 88's!

« on: March 03, 2013, 12:35:18 am »

Ok, I have not played this much in the last few weeks in 10 - no, make that 20 years...  Timing is everything, especially when you are improvising leads.  Back when I had nothing to do but woodshed, it all came so easy.  NOW...  Holy crap, my timing is awful.  But, this is all in good fun.  I used to do a lot of Trower back in the 70's and 80's in the bands I was in.  Here is my take on Too Rolling Stoned.  There is a story on this one!  I did one take and my Jack Russell Terrorist - I mean Terrier, chased one of the cats into the "amp isolation room" (bedroom) got tangled in the mic cable and pulled the mic off the acoustically suspended vibration isolated stand (ottoman with a pillow).  It was towards the end of the solo, so I did another take and mixed both in the rhythm, one in the lead until the accident, and pulled up the other lead to finish it out.   Nuttin' but the best for your sonic entertainment here at Blackmore studios!  It sounds terrible in transition!  Oh well...

Strat, into Crybaby, into homemade Univibe, into homemade tube preamp, into Major, into 4x12.   Hope you like!

Jim

I tried to listen to the soundclip, but my computer stated that it was ATTACKED by a virus when I attempted that.

Norton anti-virus blocked it.

with respect, Tubenit

Me too. The page forwards from mediafire to something else, which trips McAfee.

I recommend posting to a different hosting service, as that one appears compromised.

OK, just for 'Nit I got a painless connection that should not be a problem for his wimpy computer.  So if its still a problem, it's Doug's player!  Of course Tubenit, it really could be your computer.  Since it is used to just having to reproduce the significantly less sophisticated Lo-Fi sound of a Tele, it might be going into shock overload trying to reproduce the delicate textures, colors, and heavenly sounds that emit from a Strat.

Just sayin'

That sounded absolutely incredibly good!  Loved it!

I think you did a fantastic job of getting Trower's tone!  And totally nailed the vocals for that tune. Man, you can sing great! Remarkable vocals.

If I'd gone to a concert and heard you play & sing that, I'd feel like I had definitely gotten my money's worth. Cool tune .....done superbly.

You sure play some super fast riffs. I always amazed at how someone can do that.

THANKS for sharing it!  I'll admit my playing is pretty lo-fi compared to yours, but it ain't the Tele. It's moi.

Good stuff!  Post some more, please.   dontknow icon_biggrin icon_biggrin

Best regards, Jeff

no, it's the tele.....

Sorry, not my singing either!  I think I got the same backing track as Doug's.  I'll do another Trower and do the vocals so you can make fun of me again!  Thank you for the kind words!

Wow! What a burn on the end. I'm from the old school of long extended solos so that's right down my alley. First time I tried it a while back--like the rest, I couldn't get it to play back. It's working now! Great job! When are you and Doug going on tour? Plate

Thanks HBP!  Plate, my touring days are long done...  I don't think I will live long enough to be able to woodshed for the number of hours it would take to not embarrass meself.  I'm the historian now!  Or as my kids say, ancient history...  Doug will have to carry the torch!  I'll roadie for him and control all the crazed women!

LOL Jim, I can't just simply continue with all the ball-washing  laugh (but i really did like the re-creation).

We've had some good swells and summer's already kickin in, the water's warming, the babes are frolicing, and the bikini's are lessening - if that's possible!?  icon_biggrin

Selling the "plastic piggy" too, right now's good time as the weather heats up.

I haven't done any recording lately, been playing and mostly engrossed in all things fuzzy & germanium the last few months. Got some really great results going on...super fun right now. Maybe profiable too? Local people are interested, we'll see? But I only have so much time and there's a lot of extra activities to do so time management is at a premium. Oh, and got another puppy golden retriever to add to the family. The wife just called and my list just grew another 4 items on my day off. (They're more like day-on's). The last thing I recorded was a quick demo of my small Firecracker amp (similar to firefly) for SG a month or two ago so he could see how much gain a coscode set-up has. Maybe I'll link it but there's no production value, just me into the amp jamming for about a minute. Would that be okay for now? PM coming, keep your ojos abierto senior...
