Has anyone here made a clone of the uni-vibe like Hendrix used. Star Spangled Banner, Machine Gun, etc.. etc.. ?

I built the General Guitar Gadgets Univibe clone at the end of last summer. It doesn't have a pedal control like the original but you could certainly add one. I made the light shield from sheet copper and aluminum foil rather than the film cannister version. I got my parts from Small Bear.
One thing to Note: the voltage rating of the bulb that Small Bear sells is greatly different than the one in the GGG parts inventory so the current resistor has to be changed accordingly. Dialing in the correct amplitude for the bulb is the trickiest part (I've burned up 3 so far.) Also when the speed is increased the intensity of the bulb increases independent of the intensity knob so that can be a little tricky (I've learned to turn the knobs opposite directions.) When it starts to sound REAL good you may be fixin' to fry a bulb.
Other than the bulb issues I had no problems w/ the build; hope to go back and do the mods/tweaks suggested @ Geofex "Technology of the Univibe" someday.
