Yeah, everybody knows Jack In The Beanstalk, right?  icon_biggrin That's sort of how I feel - I traded my Marshall Class 5 (which I never used since I build better sounding amps than that one) for a Martin acoustic 000x1. The Martin turns out to be a pretty spiffy, if low cost (for Martin) guitar. Anyway, yesterday I did a quick test with the Martin and one of my Telecasters (Tele was playing through my 18 Watt Lite II with the extra gain stage). I need to work on acoustic guitar recording techniques (I haven't owned one in at least fifteen years) but I like the Martin quite a bit. It's a parlor guitar, not a dreadnaught; ideal for fingerpicking at home.

Nice work Ty, the tele through the 18w sounded great. I have parts for the 18w that i never got around to doing anything with. Any chance of a schem? Thanks

Here's a link to a lot of 18 watt variants. I've also built a lite II and highly recommend it.

Dockery also has an interesting version...

Sorry, I haven't been here in a while and I didn't see this. Mine is just a stock 18 Watt Lite II with the extra gain stage like the one from Doug's Stout. IIRC my values for the extra triode are very similar to Doug's. I'm sure mine would be a bit quieter if I had built it as a higher gain amp from the start but I just crammed it in there. It gets somewhat noisy when cranked but it's also so loud at that volume that the noise floor is still way below the signal. The noise is coming from the preamp, plainly, as the power amp is totally quiet. So if I were starting over I'd probably just cop Doug's layout and go from that.

Glad you liked it.
