Smokin' 88's!

« on: August 31, 2011, 08:51:21 pm »

Just finished watching this on sat documentary channel.  This guy is amazing.  He built a guitar tower with hundreds of guitars and used actuators for fretting, damping, and picking.  He winds his own pickups.  They whole thing is computer controlled with all sorts of effects.  It is truly and electric orchestra.  Here is a short talking about the movie.

SXSW 2009 Film Trailer: TRIMPIN: the sound of invention

He uses all sorts of stuff for his sounds/projects.  He is just one of those people who can take the simplest note or jumble of noise and have a grand plan for it all!  Amazing.

I've looked and can't find anything on utoob.  If you watch the movie you can hear it.  It sounds like a mix of ethereal mood music and a crashing thunderstorm!  Then he did another performance of a Cream song.  Pretty wild stuff.
