Finished a Dynacomp. These are great compressors. Very transparent and can be used as a booster with the sustain set to zero.

I don't etch the boards. They are fairly inexpensive at Guitargadgets.com. He also has the parts lists and layouts of pretty much any box you want to make.

Cool pedal, Ed.  You sure it's guitargadgets.com?  I found their website, but I couldn't find any pedal stuff.

EDIT:  Nevermind... I found them at generalguitargadgets.com.  Pretty cool site.  I wonder how they avoid the lawyer?

Nice pic.  I've been thinking about one of these for my next build.  Looks pretty easy to do.  What type of bypassing scheme did you use?

Very cool Ed!

Questions:
1) What Op Amp did you use? (Mouser doesn't have the CA3080, but lists the 526-NTE996 as a sub)

2) What NPN transistor did you use? (Mouser does still have the 2N5088, but also lists lots of different subs & cross refs)

3) what are the dimensions of your box?

Also, did you do the "Ross" version, or stick with the original D-comp?

TIA,  G

I love tube amps

:)I was thinking about one of those for my next build.

I built a Rangemaster clone from a Guitar Gadgets board.  The only hard part was getting everything to fit in an old Rectifier footswitch. ;D

I don't know if you guys know about this site yet, but this guy has some hard to find parts:  http://www.smallbearelec.com/

Just placed an order w/ Small Bear yesterday.  I've decided instead of a compressor I'm gonna build the GGG MOSFET Boost and the Mini Boost and see what the difference is.

Hey Geez, sorry for not replying sooner I have been busy with work and other stuff and just now getting some time to catch up. I used the CA3080A and found all the transistors that it calls for from small bear:

http://www.smallbearelec.com/Categories.bok?category=ICs+-+Op-Amps+and+Linear

For pedal parts I usually can find it all there and  only have one shipping charge. He carries the small pots also, hard to fit the regular size pot in a small area like that.

I have built two of the compressors now, both work well, they are not as quiet as I would like, but they are decent compressors.
